‘Big Gamecock Weekend’ scheduled for spring football game | Colombia

This year’s Garnet and Black Gamecock Spring Football Game will be different from years past. The 2022 event will take place on the evening of April 16 at 7 p.m., unlike its usual daytime schedule. Entry to the game is free for all fans.

Along with the new game time, the University of South Carolina Department of Athletics is hosting a “Big Gamecock Weekend” of activities.

“Gamecock fans have always loved their football under the lights of Williams-Brice Stadium,” said Carolina head coach Shane Beamer.. “Our team will be fired up to wrap up a tough spring training season in front of a terrific crowd for our garnet and black spring football game.”

Game festivities will begin with a pre-game concert by Patrick Davis in the Gamecock Park Amphitheater from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. After the game, a post-game fireworks display will take place at Williams Stadium- Brian.

Concessions will be available during the spring game, including beer and wine sales.

The Gamecock baseball team will host Ole Miss at Founders Park at 1 p.m., with a pre-game block party outside the stadium.

“Big Gamecock Weekend” kicks off April 14 with the baseball team’s game against Ole Miss at 7 p.m. and continues April 15 with beach volleyball against Georgia State and College of Charleston at Wheeler Beach, men’s tennis against Texas A&M at the Carolina Tennis Center. and the baseball series with Ole Miss continuing at 7 p.m.

The “Cocky Trot 5K” will take place on April 16 at Gamecock Park and the surrounding area. To register for the 5K, fill out the form hereand more information will be sent to registrants in the near future.

Other events on April 16 include the Gamecock Invitational track meet at Cregger Track and beach volleyball against the Florida Gulf Coast and the Carolina Coast.

“It promises to be a great weekend of activity for our fans,” said Gamecock Athletics manager Ray Tanner.. “Our staff have been talking about hosting a weekend of activities like this for years and I’m sure everyone will enjoy a ‘Big Gamecock Weekend’.”

Gamecock Park will be open for the Garnet and Black Spring Football game at 3 p.m. and is free for fans. The Lexington Medical Center Fairgrounds will open to fans at 4 p.m. and will cost $10 per vehicle.

The spring football game and baseball game will be televised live on SEC Network+.
