Are you planning to go to the Fête du Livre or the spring football game? leave the car at home

If you’ll be visiting the University Park Campus or the Fairgrounds this weekend, you won’t be alone – not by far.

The campus hosts the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books on Saturday and Sunday, with around 150,000 people expected. Across the street, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is the site of Saturday’s spring football game, and with all eyes on Trojans this yeartens of thousands of people are likely to converge on the Parc des Expositions.

Do the math: it’s going to be packed.

If you plan to drive, the best advice is to rethink that plan. Parking – difficult around the University Park campus even on a normal day – is sure to be a bonus. University parking structures will be open, including the massive Grand Avenue parking structure on the east side of the 110 Freeway, but will likely fill up early. In the fairgrounds, available parking has been reduced due to the construction of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art.

Your best bet is to take public transport. Subway line E (Expo) has three stops serving the University Park campus and several subway bus lines also serve the area. To verify The Metro Travel Planner to find the best option for you.
