A four-month investigation has revealed the extent of racial slurs used by Georgetown High School players against the predominantly black and Hispanic Roxbury Prep team during a game last fall, according to reports.

A 53-page report by a former federal prosecutor was commissioned by schools to investigate allegations of racist behavior against mostly white Georgetown players after a fight broke out between the two teams at a game on September 17, 2021.

Georgetown school officials said at the time there was a “physical altercation” during the game involving players from both teams and multiple coaches. The two districts paid a combined $150,000 for the investigation.

The report found that Roxbury Prep players or coaches were the target of at least four racial slurs from players and spectators, according to the Boston Globe. Administrators, coaches and high school officials at Georgetown High School all failed to respond to these complaints in a timely manner, according to the report.

Alleged racial slurs sparked a brawl during a high school football team between Georgetown and Roxbury.

No Georgetown coach or teacher has used racial epithets, despite claims to the contrary by a Roxbury Prep coach. And for their part, Roxbury Prep coaches have heightened tensions by angrily accusing officials and physically grabbing Georgetown players, according to the report.

Two Roxbury players used the “N” word in a hostile and inappropriate way towards white spectators in Georgetown, the newspaper reported.

Ultimately, the report concludes that Georgetown High fails to provide a safe and welcoming space for the visiting team’s black players and coaches, subjecting them to a racially hostile environment.

Starling Bank kicks off the first-ever fantasy football match for the UEFA Women’s EURO today ahead of the tournament’s official kick-off on Wednesday 6 July.

The game was developed by the tournament’s domestic banking partner to broaden the representation of women’s football, which limited fantasy football matches and never had any for the UEFA Women’s EURO. All major men’s football tournaments have fantasy equivalents and over eight million people play in the Men’s Fantasy Premier League1.

Almost two-thirds (63%) of people in the UK believe women’s football should be given the same visibility as men’s football, including the opportunity to be represented in fantasy football leagues, according to research. One in five say they would play Fantasy Football linked to a women’s tournament2.

Rachel Yankey, the first woman in the UK to become a professional footballer, launched the industry’s first Fantasy Football game. Starling Bank, the first bank in the UK to be founded by a woman, has also teamed up with women’s football experts Girls on the Ball, who will provide regular match analysis to inform fantasy teams of players.

By providing expert analysis on the 16 women’s teams at UEFA Women’s EURO 2022, Starling aims to create even more engagement with the tournament, which UEFA predicts will be the biggest women’s sporting event in the world. European history.

Rachel Yankey, former England player and Starling Bank Ambassador, said: “I am delighted to form my first fantasy team with the Lionesses of England. When I was growing up, there was nothing like it. I hope fans, young and old, will really enjoy building their teams and seeing how women’s football has come to where it is today.

“As a youngster, I shaved my hair and pretended to be a boy just to fit in. Nowadays, the final of this tournament has already sold out Wembley Stadium before a ball even was kicked in. However, the playing field is not yet level – every move towards equality makes a big difference.

Starling encourages friends, families and colleagues to create their own tournament teams to help people hone their budgeting skills and get them talking about the players. The game is free for everyone.

Players are given a fantasy budget of £84m and can build fantasy squads of footballers in competing EURO teams, with players able to make strategic substitutions between rounds based on footballer performance. All players are entered into a draw, where one randomly selected player will win an eight-seater box for the 2023 Women’s FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium.

Helen Bierton, former Olympian and Chief Banking Officer of Starling Bank, said: “We created Starling Bank to give people the bank we thought they deserved. Now here we are again launching another industry first, this time for women’s football. I hope this inspires people to talk about the brilliance of female footballers even more, as well as improve their budgeting skills!”

Rachel O’Sullivan, co-founder of Girls on the Ball: “It’s time we had a fantasy league for the UEFA Women’s EURO. Fantasy football is about more than creating a dream team and compete with your friends. This inspires people to get invested in different players, watching matches closer and closer and celebrating players’ footballing skills regardless of national borders.

EA Sports is still planning to release their new college football game next July and while most fans expect a delay as is the norm in the gaming industry, all signs point to this game coming out. on time. EA Sports will be waiting for your money with open arms, and they’ll get mine and more.

As time goes by, more and more leaks come to light and the brilliant mind of Matt Brown at Extra Points recently provided some interesting information on how EA Sports wants to achieve a specific gaming atmosphere.

As noted in the Twitter thread above, EA Sports is seeking advice from colleges on cheers and songs played during gameplay so they can provide the most accurate atmosphere possible. This means that when you play with Ohio State at home, you’ll likely hear classic OHIO singing.

The most interesting thing about this thread and Matt Brown’s article is about the integration of Spirit Stickers and how EA Sports asked for more information on how they are obtained. This probably means that if you play with the Buckeyes everyone will have a blank helmet to start the season and as the season progresses different players will have different amounts of Buckeye sheets which sounds silly but makes me very excited.

As we get more leaks on what EA Sports has in mind for the return of its college football game, we will, especially when it comes to Ohio State.

South Carolina football game-by-game predictions for the 2022 season are here, a summer installment we’ll be continuing daily for every SEC team starting with Shane Beamer and Gamecocks. Every conference team is chasing Georgia and Alabama and there are several just outside the national conversation, including the Gamecocks, who will have a say in how the championships are decided this fall.

Coaching circles say transitioning college football programs are showing their biggest leap by the end of Year 2 around a new regime. In South Carolina’s case, Beamer hopes the new campaign ends with a quick win count as the Gamecocks continue to push to where they want to be.

The arrival of spencer ratter and a star-studded transfer class gives hope for a program that was the only college football team last season to win games with four different starting quarterbacks. Consistency is needed and South Carolina believes it found that in Rattler, a former five-star rookie who played as a freshman at Oklahoma before being traded after his sophomore season.

FedEx Field to Host 2024 Army-Navy Game originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

One of college football’s most storied traditions comes to Landover in two years.

Wednesday the Washington Commanders and Events DC Announced FedEx Field will host the Military Classic on Saturday, December 14, 2024.

“We look forward to hosting one of our nation’s most exciting sports rivalries and using the experience to honor the more than 350,000 service members and veterans who call the region home here in the Sports Capital,” said DC Mayor Muriel Bowser. “We’ll see you in DC in 2024 for a week of football, fun and tradition, all leading up to the 125th Army-Navy game.”

FedEx Field’s hosting of the event in 2024 is part of “America’s Game,” a running tradition of the Army and Navy classic that will be played in five different cities over the next five years, according to the US Naval Academy. Boston/Foxboro will host in 2023, FedEx Field the following year, Baltimore in 2025, New York City/East Rutherford in 2026 and Philadelphia in 2027. All games will be nationally televised by CBS.

“Few events can capture the pageantry, servant leadership and values of our proud military like the Army-Navy game, and we, as commanders in Washington, are especially proud to host and stage a world-class experience for the academies, their players and fans, and our entire sports region,” said Commanders President Jason Wright. “We are also grateful for this opportunity to stand alongside the strong military community and DMV alumni, along with district and Maryland partners, to welcome this legendary rivalry to FedEx Field in 2024.”

FedEx Field first hosted the Army-Navy game in 2011, and so far in the all-time series, the Midshipmen lead the Cadets 62-53-7. The match at Landover in 2024 will be the 125th meeting between the two dating back to 1890.

The nation’s capital will host a series of events leading up to the competition, including a gala, an army-navy block party on the wharf, and more. Event DC board of directors Max Brown noted that hosting the event typically generates around $30 million in revenue.

FOR ALL the talk of samba football and the dudes at Copacabana beach juggling balls on the sand, Brazilian football is still largely anonymous to the rest of the world. Every four years the media focuses on the Brazilian national team and expectations invariably exceed reality – it’s now 20 years since they won the World Cup, eight since they were humiliated on their home turf by a creeping Germany. It’s international football, but what about Brazilian national football which, despite the export of hundreds of players, remains a mystery?

That may be about to change after a law is passed that will allow Brazilian clubs to behave as legal entities rather than non-profit organizations. This means that the free market will begin to dominate and influence the behavior of clubs, creating both winners and losers. This will surely be good news for the giants of the Brazilian game but could, if greed takes over, create greater imbalances than today. In 2020, revenue from the top five clubs accounted for 56% of overall revenue, with Flamengo alone achieving 14%. At present, the distribution of TV revenue is certainly suboptimal, with around a quarter of the total going to two clubs, Flamengo and Palmeiras, between 2017 and 2021.

But the restart of Brazilian football could also lead to greater professionalism and the creation of global franchises in a country whose main brand of football is unequivocally the national team.

It was starting to happen in a way, mainly thanks to the increased awareness of South America’s Copa Libertadores, which has received greater exposure in Europe in recent years, but not always for the right reasons.

But this new law will open the door to greater foreign investment, in fact it is already underway with two iconic but financially troubled Brazilian clubs, Botafogo and Vasca da Gama, benefiting from American investors. Meanwhile, another club, Cruzeiro, also facing tax problems, has been bought by World Cup legend Ronaldo. These three clubs had combined debts of around US$450 million and, according to EY, the total debt of the top-flight teams was US$1.9 billion (R$10.3 billion) in 2020. Besides these takeovers, two clubs were already owned. by companies, Red Bull Bragantino, which is now part of the Red Bull multi-club model, and Cuiba, which are backed by a tire company.

Along with the new law, Brazilian clubs are threatening to split off and form their own competition. Naturally, money is behind this initiative, although critics have called for Liga do Futebol Brasileiro (Libra) to be more than a way to distribute money on TV.

Brazilian national football has suffered from a poor image abroad and selling matches to broadcasters has always been difficult, even though some clubs have huge fanbases. The game was damaged by poor and short-term owners, poor playing surfaces, corruption, mob violence and an overloaded playing schedule. Brazil is stubbornly clinging to its state championships, which allow small clubs to become cannon fodder for the big names. But the biggest South American market is still obsessed with sports with more than 80% after the Serie A championship and three-quarters of the nation interested in football (source: Brand Finance).

Currently, six club presidents are committed to the new project, from Flamengo, Palmeiras, Corinthians, Sao Paulo, Santos and Red Bull Bragantino. Some believe a breakaway league will free Brazilian football from the shackles that have prevented real progress, calling it a moment of liberation.

TV money will be distributed more democratically, supporters say, although there are currently two versions on the table. The former is split at 40%, 30% based on performance and 30% on engagement, while the latter is 50% – 25% – 25%. However, the revival of Brazilian football basically depends on increasing the prize pool and successfully marketing Brazil to the rest of the world.

How realistic is the dream of increasing Brazil’s competitiveness? The country has always been seen as one of the potentials, but for various reasons it has rarely been realized on a consistent basis. From a football perspective, Brazilian clubs remain the dominant force in South America, winning six of the last 10 Copa Libertadores. Six of this year’s final 16 come from Brazil, including heavyweights Palmeiras, Flamengo and Corinthians.

An interesting development is the rise of Flamengo, one of the most popular clubs in Brazil and who have been trying to build a global reputation. Brand Finance’s Football 50 has been dominated by Europe since its inception, but for the first time a Brazilian club has made its way into the list, albeit at number 49. According to Brand Finance, Flamengo’s brand is far more advanced than Palmeiras, its closest competitor among Brazilian clubs.

Will Brazilian clubs ever be able to generate enough money to retain some of the talent sold overseas before they reach their peak? As one journalist pointed out, if Brazil were to stop players from going to Europe, it would create the best league in the world. It’s a bold claim, but Brazil exports more footballers abroad than any other country, but often fails to capture the full value. It should be noted that Brazilian club revenues in 2020 totaled 5.3 billion reais (£890m/US$1.1bn/€1bn).

Until revenues allow Brazilian football to compete with other leagues, it seems unlikely that the trade route will change, even if the trend is negative in terms of numbers. Between 2017 and 2022, 1,219 players left Brazil with Portugal as the main route (source: CIES Football Observatory). Also, any conception of creating a Club World Cup will be a bit hollow when Europe is so dominant.

Like the so-called “Football Inc.” As the initiative becomes more definite, it is not difficult to envision a wave of investment in Brazilian football in the next 12 months as there could be a huge upside for clubs with massive fanbases. It could also trigger some of the latest developments in the football industry, such as cryptocurrencies, data-driven and more strategic transfers and the arrival of more investors with multi-club wallets. Another factor could be an influx of foreign talent into a league that has a low percentage (<10%) of expatriates. Not only could this be the moment for the Brazilian Premier League, but handled properly and with patience, it could also change the shape of global club football.

A futuristic soccer game that leverages digital assets.

Cyball is a football themed title where players can collect players as NFTs and form a team to play against other teams in the game.

The Cyball ecosystem will allow players to not only collect players, but they will also be able to trade players as NFTs or mentor them within the ecosystem. Players in the game are called Cyblocks.

Launch of the Cyball NFT football game on Solana 4

Previously, it was made public that the game would launch on BNB Chain – which it will – but since they are ready to develop a multi-chain environment for the game, they will immediately launch on Solana. (FLOOR)

In the game, players use different strategies to win against others and get cool rewards. Wouldn’t it be exciting to find out who scored the most goals?

The center of attention is Cyblocks. As players, we can train our Cyblocks so that they can compete and win in different game modes. Another exciting thing is that the Cyblocks can also coach or train the new Cyblocks just like real football.

Cyball – Game Modes

PvP – Exhibition

The game’s digital players, Cyblocks, compete against other players in PvP matches. In Exhibition PvP mode, there isn’t much competition as players will play casually and earn rewards, thanks to the game’s P2E mechanics.

Matchmaking is also optimized for a player with an average rating to play against the player of their rank.

There are two types of exhibition matches:

Phase 1 (Exposure 3 vs 3)

  • 6 key events
  • Shorter match duration and lower rewards
  • 3 CyBlocks per user
  • Costs 3 energy per match

Phase 2 (Exposure 5 vs 5)

  • Costs 5 energy per match
  • 5 CyBlocks per user
  • 10 key events
cyball game A futuristic football game that exploits digital resources.
Launch of the Cyball NFT football game on Solana 5

League

As in real football leagues, this one is no different. Players play against each other to get to the top and stay there – to win the OFC league.

At the start of the season, players must register their team with at least 7 Cyblocks – 5 starting players and 2 substitutes. As the season continues, you cannot change this schedule.

League (Phase 2)

  • 7 CyBlocs per user — 5 holders and 2 alternates
  • Higher rewards than Exhibition Mode
  • 10 key events
  • Scheduled matches that don’t cost energy
  • Works season by season

Tournament

As with Champions League football, only the top teams from their prospect leagues are allowed to participate in the prestigious event – the tournament.

In Cyball, only teams invited by the tournament official are allowed to participate. Just like in leagues, players register a team of 7 Cyblocks in total and join the competition.

If they win the tournament, all team members (Cyblocks) will hold a championship trophy that will stay with their profile forever.

Tournament mode (phase 2)

  • 7 CyBlocs per user — 5 holders and 2 alternates
  • Scheduled matches that don’t cost energy
  • 10 key events
  • The highest rewards with potential sponsorships from external partners

PvE – Training Mode

Without using energy, you can train and improve your players in training mode. This way you can upgrade your Cyblocks faster than ever.

Well, Cyblocks will NOT earn P2E rewards in practice mode.

PvE (3 vs 3 battle stage)

This mode will feature computer generated matches for players to compete and have fun.

3 on 3 training (Phase 2)

  • 3 user-owned CyBlocs vs. 3 computer-generated CyBlocs
  • Costs 0 energy
  • 6 key events
cyball roadmap A futuristic football game that exploits digital resources.

TOKENOMIC

Currently, the supply of CBT (Cyblock Battery Tokens) is not fixed. What we do know is that the token is based on ERC-20 and BEP-20. As the token is the main transactions token in the ecosystem, you must need a way to earn them. Using the game’s Play-to-Earn mechanism, here’s how to earn $CBT:

  • Take part in various PvP modes
  • Rewards are earned when we perform various activities for the ecosystem.
  • Cyloans

Alabama and Texas will officially start at noon ET (11 a.m. CT) on Sept. 10, the teams announced Thursday in conjunction with FOX. This will be the first time Alabama has played in a game broadcast by FOX in the Big Noon window as the two schools meet for a Week 2 non-conference matchup in Austin.

A kick off at noon ET/11 a.m. CT was the growing expectation for the game after FOX confirmed earlier in the spring that the contest between the Longhorns and Crimson Tide would air on the network. In recent years, FOX has placed its first games of the week in the noon ET window as opposed to a traditional prime time viewing window.

The idea of a noon kickoff was not well received, however, given historic temperatures in Austin hovering in the 90s at that time of day in September. Fans recently launched a Change.org petition accordinglytitled “Make Fox Put the Alabama Game at Night,” but to no avail given Thursday’s decision.

“Instead of competing with whatever game ESPN chooses to have in prime time, Fox Sports, like the cowards that they are, chooses to air their marquee game of the day at noon. Noon,” indicates the petition. “If Fox Sports wants fans to see them as the ultimate college football broadcaster, they should rival ESPN in prime time, not back out of the challenge, and obediently show their best game at noon to make sure people will watch it.”

This season’s showdown will mark Alabama’s first game on FOX since the 2009 Sugar Bowl against Utah, according to BamaOnLine’s Charlie Potter. After a 5-7 season, the Longhorns generated considerable hype ahead of Steve Sarkisian’s third campaign due to an aggressive performance in the transfer portal, including the addition of two former Alabama players – Jahleel Billingsley and Agiye Hall – with the five-star quarterback Quinn ewers.

Ewers fought Map of Hudson in the spring and Sarkissian said after last month’s spring game that he had noticed impressive growth in that position. Texas has yet to name a starter amid competition that is expected to spill over into fall camp.

Alabama and Texas last met in the 2009 BCS National Championship game, which resulted in the first of six Crimson Tide titles and counting under Nick Saban after the Longhorns saw the star quarterback Colt McCoy fall with an injury early. Texas and Alabama will soon become SEC enemies, with the Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners joining the conference no later than the 2025 season. Oklahoma was also the recipient of a Big Noon window for a game of fame this fall on Thursday, as it was announced that the Sept. 17 Oklahoma-Nebraska game will kick off at 11 a.m. CT for a second straight year.
